Visit of Josefina Pinochet

Josefina chatting with His Worship, James A. Watson, Mayor of Ottawa, while Joyce Wright, a past-president of ESU Canada, looks on.

Josefina won the ESU Chile 2010 English Writing Competition. Her prize was a week in Canada. Richard Collingwood-Selby, ESU Chile, and John Wright arranged a program for her which included 4 days in Ottawa as houseguest of the Wrights and 3 days in Toronto, with a side trip to Niagara Falls.

While in Ottawa, Josefina toured the city, met the Mayor and Councillor Peter Hume, visited the Museum of Civilization and the National Art Gallery, saw a Cirque du Soleil performance, checked out the shopping centres and the Byward Market, and spent her last evening at a Jazz Fest concert which, by a fortuitous piece of timing, featured one of her favourite groups.

Her command of English is excellent so it was no surprise that she had won the writing competition. Josefina was a pleasure to host and an excellent ambassador for Chile and ESU Chile.
